What We Do

General Surgeries

We provide on average over 400 appointments each week. These can be booked in advance and we always maintain some same-day appointments for patients with an urgent problem which needs medical attention that day.

We are committed to meeting requests for appointments with a GP or nurse within 2 working days where needed. As some of our doctors work part-time it is not always possible to meet the time and doctor of your choice.

A national survey of all NHS GP practices in 2007 showed over 85% of our patients were satisfied or very satisfied with the availability of appointments we provide. We continue to look at ways of improving access for everyone.

See section on "How to book an appointment"

Telephone Advice

Some problems can be dealt with on the telephone or you may want to speak with a certain doctor or one of our practice staff for specific advice.

Remember the doctors and nurses spend most of their day in clinics or home visits so they may not be immediately available when you call but will call you back as soon as possible.

If you are following up a referral to the hospital the reception or practice secretary is usually best placed to deal with your enquiry.

See section on "How to request telephone advice"

Home Visits

For patients too ill or frail to get to the surgery we can visit them at home. This service is strictly based on medical need as home visits can be time-consuming and mean the doctors are not available at the surgery for long periods.
